The Lovable Traveler
It Began With A Name
It Continued With Passion
We all have our passions, how we like to spend our free time, how we want to make our mark on this world. Before I even knew the meaning of my name, it described my passion. My name translates to "Lovable Traveler" which emulates my desire to have a world full of lovable travelers. These are people who not only love to travel, but travel in a responsible way that respects and supports locals in a positive way, so they are loved as a visitor.
Travel has not only been a passion for me, but a career. As I completed my Masters of Tourism Administration from GW, I learned more about the issues that press communities in tourism around the world and ways to be a more conscious explorer. I hope to share thoughts and stories for a conversation on how to foster a positive relationship between the traveler, the host community, and the environment while having fun.
What is Sustainable Travel?
In short, sustainable travel is a holistic approach to make sure tourism is helping and not hurting host communities.
The 3 "Es" of sustainability are
1. Environment: the natural land, air, water, and other natural aspects
2. Economy: the money generated from and invested for tourism activities
3. Equity: the fair treatment of people
In a sustainable destination these 3 basic principles work together to create a strong positive impact on the locals (both financially and socially) without compromising the environment.
